Perbadanan Hal Ehwal Bekas Angkatan Tentera (PERHEBAT), together with Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), visited Bateriku’s headquarters in Bukit Jelutong to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration. The areas of interest include training, employment and entrepreneurship in the automotive sector for military veterans and personnel approaching retirement from the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).
The delegation also visited several parts of Bateriku’s ecosystem, including Paddock, Akademi Bateriku, BGarage and Pitstop, to gain a better understanding of how the brand’s integrated automotive ecosystem operates.
Turning Military Experience into New Opportunities
PERHEBAT plays an important role in supporting ATM personnel beyond their military careers, particularly by helping them develop the skills needed to transition into new career and income opportunities after leaving active service.

This aligns closely with Bateriku’s capabilities within the automotive industry, with training facilities, an extensive operational network and multiple career and entrepreneurship pathways within a single ecosystem. This provides PERHEBAT with a potential platform for individuals interested in exploring opportunities in the automotive industry.
3 Pathways, 3 Opportunities
Three potential pathways were identified during discussions between the delegation and Bateriku.
The first is TVET training at Akademi Bateriku, with around 30 participants proposed for the pilot programme. The training could equip participants with practical automotive skills, including battery replacement and other relevant modules. Beyond gaining practical knowledge, participants could also receive certification recognised by the Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran, strengthening their value in the job market.

The second is career opportunities in the automotive industry through Bateriku. For those looking to build a career outside the public sector, the BHero programme offers a potential pathway for individuals interested in working within Bateriku’s roadside assistance ecosystem. Its gig-based model allows participants to manage their own working schedules while earning an income.

The third is entrepreneurship. PERHEBAT could potentially leverage the BPreneur programme to encourage military veterans to establish their own businesses. Beyond creating an avenue to generate their own income, these businesses could also create employment opportunities for others within their communities.

Bateriku’s integrated ecosystem provides opportunities for individual development across the entire journey from training and practical experience to industry exposure, employment and entrepreneurship.
Military veterans transitioning into civilian life bring significant potential. Values developed during their service, including discipline, leadership and a strong sense of responsibility, remain highly relevant and are qualities that Bateriku values in its people.

Bateriku Supports Human Capital Development for the Military Community
The visit marks an important step towards closer collaboration between Bateriku, PERHEBAT and MARA.
For PERHEBAT, the objective is to equip military personnel with relevant skills and opportunities for life after service, allowing them to continue contributing to society in new ways.
For Bateriku, the discipline, leadership and operational experience developed throughout military service represent valuable human capital, qualities that can become a strong foundation for success in the automotive industry.
