Malaysia's EV landscape is expanding rapidly. However, one area that hasn't grown as fast as it should is after-sales service support. To address this gap, a strategic partnership has been formed between Bateriku and SVOLT Energy Technology Co. Ltd. from China.

This collaboration aims to make EV ownership more practical as Malaysia's EV industry matures as a whole.

Malaysia's EV Market Can No Longer Focus on Sales Alone

Many consider Malaysia's EV market to have taken off around 2022, when models like the BYD Atto 3 were offered below RM200,000, opening up electric vehicles to a wider audience.

Since then, EV sales have surged, further driven by global fuel price uncertainty. As of 2025, 113,585 electric vehicles have been registered according to Malaysian government data. Notably, annual registration figures have grown higher each consecutive year, reflecting the deepening and accelerating adoption of EVs among Malaysian consumers.

From this, it's clear that the sales side has no trouble attracting buyers. The focus and resources now need to be redirected toward the post-purchase experience including battery replacement and roadside assistance tailored specifically to electric vehicles, which operate very differently from conventional cars.

This is exactly where the Bateriku-SVOLT partnership positions itself within Malaysia's EV landscape: providing support for a new generation of vehicles that demands specialised expertise.

Three Core Pillars of the Bateriku-SVOLT Partnership

The partnership was formalised by Yingtao Hao, Director of SVOLT Energy Technology Co. Ltd., alongside Azarol Faizi, Chief Executive Officer of Bateriku. The signing ceremony took place at a SVOLT facility in Jintan district, Changzhou city, Jiangsu province, China.

The collaboration will focus on three key areas:

  • EV Battery Diagnostics Using advanced equipment and specialised training to assess EV battery health and detect issues early.
  • Roadside Assistance Technical Support Extending Bateriku's existing roadside assistance services to cover electric vehicles.
  • Battery Replacement Technical Know-How In-depth technical knowledge on handling the most critical component of any EV.

SVOLT's Technology in Malaysia

For context, SVOLT is the seventh-largest EV battery manufacturer in China.

The company supplies batteries for Geely's first electric SUV, the Geely Galaxy E5 which is sold in Malaysia under the name Proton e.Mas 7. Additionally, as a subsidiary of Great Wall Motor (GWM), SVOLT also powers models in the Ora lineup, including the Ora Good Cat and Ora 07.

Commenting on the partnership, Azarol Faizi said:

“This partnership is not only about expanding Bateriku’s capabilities in the EV segment, but more importantly, it enables us to instill confidence among electric vehicle owners in Malaysia—that efficient, fast, and reliable after-sales support is always available to them.”

Yingtao Hao added:

“This collaboration reflects SVOLT’s commitment to supporting the development of the EV ecosystem in international markets such as Malaysia. By combining our battery technology with Bateriku’s service network strength, we are confident that EV owners will enjoy a smoother, safer, and more assured ownership experience.”

Malaysia's EV Ecosystem Is Evolving

From a business perspective, demand within the ecosystem is clearly shifting. The market began with an early adopter phase, when EVs entered Malaysia through smaller dealers at premium prices. This was followed by a growth phase, marked by more brands, more models, and greater incentives from authorities. The industry is now entering an ecosystem maturity phase, where early adopters are beginning to require after-sales services such as diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs.

The Bateriku-SVOLT partnership is a timely and well-placed response to this evolution.
