Bateriku Signs Strategic Collaboration With Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah to Empower Automotive TVET in Malaysia

17 December 2025, Behrang, Perak – A strategic collaboration between Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah (PSAS) and Bateriku (M) Sdn Bhd has been formalized to strengthen the agenda of empowering Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the automotive sector.

The signing ceremony took place at Dewan Muallim, Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah, coinciding with PSAS’s Monthly Assembly, reflecting the commitment of both parties to nurture a skilled workforce ready to meet the current demands of the automotive industry.

This collaboration aligns with national aspirations to enhance the TVET ecosystem while supporting the development of competitive, highly skilled Bumiputera human capital.

History and Development of Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah (PSAS)

Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah, formerly known as Politeknik Tanjung Malim (PTM), is the 15th polytechnic established by the Ministry of Education Malaysia. PTM began operations on 1 March 2002 at the Slim River Technical Secondary School before relocating to its permanent 110-acre campus in Behrang, Perak on 1 April 2003. On 7 May 2005, the institution was officially inaugurated by DYMM Paduka Seri Sultan Perak, Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah, and formally named Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah.

Starting July 2010, PSAS focused on 14 Diploma-level programs and one Advanced Diploma in Automotive Design and Manufacturing Engineering. In line with industry growth, PSAS advanced by offering a Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Manufacturing in 2014, enrolling its first cohort of 25 students.

Strategic Collaboration Between PSAS and Bateriku in the Automotive TVET Ecosystem

The partnership complements Bateriku’s ecosystem, particularly through Akademi Bateriku, which focuses on developing skilled Bumiputera professionals in automotive and TVET fields. Through this collaboration, students gain direct exposure to real industry requirements and workplace practices. The signing of the collaboration documents was officiated by Haji Razali bin Johari, Director of Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah, and Azarol Faizi, Chief Executive Officer of Bateriku.

Scope of Strategic Collaboration

The PSAS-Bateriku collaboration encompasses key areas in academic, industry, and community development:

Knowledge and Expertise Sharing
• Sharing technical knowledge, expertise, equipment, and facilities between the institution and industry.

Curriculum and Module Development
• Collaboration in developing and enhancing syllabi and curricula for automotive-related programs to align with industry needs.

Training, Certification, and Professional Recognition
• Implementation of training, consultancy, professional certification, and recognition related to automotive and TVET fields.

Research, Innovation, and Commercialization
• Conducting joint research, academic publications, innovation, and commercialization of research outputs.

Lifelong Learning and CSR
• Organizing Lifelong Learning courses, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, community engagement, human capital development, and entrepreneurship programs.

Student and Lecturer Industrial Training
• Facilitating placement of students and lecturers for industrial training in real automotive industry environments.

Other Collaborative Programs
• Implementation of other mutually agreed programs from time to time.
