Putrajaya, 30 April 2026 – Bateriku and MyDigital ID have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate Malaysia’s national digital identity system into Bateriku’s automotive ecosystem. Beyond identity verification, the collaboration is also expected to simplify access to Bateriku’s wide range of roadside assistance services for millions of Malaysians. Users are expected to be able to use MyDigital ID as a login method for the Bateriku app as early as 2026.

The initiative stems from a shared understanding between both parties on the importance of secure interactions in digital services, particularly in critical use cases such as roadside assistance, where fast and reliable support is essential. As highlighted by National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) Chief Executive Ir. Dr. Megat Zuhairy bin Megat Tajuddin, “Cybersecurity today is no longer just about protecting infrastructure. It is about protecting users, their identities, and their confidence in the digital world.”

Strengthening trust in digital services

Bateriku currently operates more than 260 branches nationwide, supported by over 3,800 certified technicians delivering services such as battery replacement, towing assistance, tyre support, and more.

Roadside assistance services typically involve interactions between users and service personnel who may not be personally known to them. This underscores the importance of a robust identity verification system to reduce risks such as impersonation and fraud, which can ultimately undermine trust in the service experience.

With MyDigital ID, Bateriku will be able to enhance the security of its automotive services even as operations scale further in the future, ensuring that trust remains central to service delivery.

Implementation of MyDigital ID within Bateriku’s ecosystem

Under the planned implementation, MyDigital ID will serve as a core identity verification layer within Bateriku’s ecosystem. It will help ensure that both users and service personnel are verified through an authoritative identity framework, supporting faster transactions and improving the overall service experience.

MyDigital ID Chairman Raja Dato’ Nushirwan Zainal Abidin previously emphasised that trust is what ultimately defines a system’s value, stating that “a system does not become national infrastructure at the point of its introduction. It becomes infrastructure when it is trusted, when it is relied upon, and when it is used without hesitation.”

From a user experience perspective, MyDigital ID is expected to enable fast and secure access to Bateriku services through simplified authentication, including QR-based login, reducing reliance on traditional passwords.

MyDigital ID CEO Nik Hisham Nik Ibrahim explained that the system is directly connected to the National Registration Department (JPN) as the single source of truth. He added that MyDigital ID does not store personal data and does not replace MyKad, but instead serves as a bridge that extends trusted identity from the physical world into digital services.

Supporting Malaysia’s digital economy vision

Bateriku is among 29 organisations across government, welfare, education, digital platforms, and technology sectors that are adopting MyDigital ID within their services. With over 11 million registered users, the initiative aims to provide Malaysians with more secure and seamless access to essential digital services.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi previously reiterated that trust remains the foundation of digital progress, stating, “Trust is not built by technology alone, it is earned through discipline in execution, transparency in governance, and consistency in delivering to the rakyat.”

As Malaysia advances its digital transformation agenda, collaborations such as this highlight how trusted identity can underpin both convenience and security in everyday services.
