26th June 2025, Kuala Lumpur - KL Gateway Mall came alive with celebration, laughter, and recognition as Foodpanda Malaysia hosted its annual appreciation event, Durian Runtuh 2.0: Anugerah Hero Tapau. The event brought together thousands of gig economy riders in celebration of their contribution to the nation's logistics and delivery landscape.

As one of Asia Pacific’s leading on-demand delivery platforms, Foodpanda Malaysia has expanded its presence in Malaysia and supports over 50,000 riders dedicated to redefining convenience and bringing joy to Malaysians through technology and service excellence. As a proud participant of the event, Bateriku together with GGR by Bateriku Motor Battery activated a booth to engage riders with our latest GGR Motor Batteries and Astra Batteries for cars. More importantly, our presence reaffirmed a shared mission with Foodpanda: to uplift and empower gig economy players. Celebrating Dedication with Grand Rewards

Honouring the Gig Heroes: Bateriku Joins Foodpanda’s Durian Runtuh 2.0 Event

Durian Runtuh 2.0 was not just a celebration. Riders were showered with rewards including gold bars, Umrah packages and RM100 vouchers from Bateriku. These gestures symbolised the growing recognition for the often unseen efforts of gig economy workers who brave every weather condition to keep the wheels of convenience turning.

Bateriku’s Shared Commitment to the Gig Economy

Bateriku’s gig workforce, known as BHero, echoes the same spirit as Foodpanda riders. Our ecosystem has trained and nurtured over 1,000 BHeroes technicians who deliver battery replacement and car assistance on-demand. They are not just technicians; they are gig heroes who carry the values of trust, reliability, and hope.

“You're not just delivering food or batteries, you're delivering hope, reliability and trust.”

Recognising the Spirit of Gig Workers

The event echoed a broader national narrative. During his speech at the event, YB Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications, underscored the importance of protecting gig workers’ welfare:

“Gig workers must be protected. They are the heroes who keep our daily lives moving smoothly.”

As reported by RTM and NST, the government continues to prioritise the welfare of food delivery riders through ongoing policies and initiatives, including an improved Rahmah p-hailing internet plan and potential new gig protection frameworks.

Bateriku: Built on the Same Foundation

Just like Foodpanda, Bateriku operates on a foundation of community, technology, and empowerment. Our ecosystem aligns with national Smart City initiatives and embodies ESG values, ensuring gig opportunities are ethical, inclusive, and sustainable.

We believe that:

“Being a gig rider is no ordinary job, it is a symbol of extraordinary spirit.”

As we continue to grow our network of BHeroes, BPreneurs, and BBuddies, we stand committed to building a future where gig economy heroes are respected, protected, and given the tools to thrive.
