Leadership Perspective

CEO of Petronas Lubricants Marketing Malaysia shared a compelling vision for the programme:

“We want to work directly with local motorcycle workshops to uplift Bumiputera businesses to global standards. PETRONAS may be a Malaysian brand, but through our acquisition of FL Selenia, one of the world’s most established lubricant manufacturers since 1910. We have infused world-class technology into our products. Today, our lubricants are used by racing champions worldwide.”

He emphasized that this initiative is not merely about funding:

“This is a comprehensive approach to entrepreneurial development. We are here to help these businesses thrive in the long run. We have seen participating workshops grow their revenue by 30% on average. Some even up to 7 times. With PETRONAS’ business development support, these entrepreneurs are stepping into a new era of quality and service delivery.”

PUMP MotoExpert Goals

The programme is designed to:

  • Help motorcycle workshop owners upgrade their operations professionally
  • Provide access to advanced technology and high-quality products
  • Improve workshop branding and public perception
  • Create a more competitive and structured motorcycle business ecosystem
  • Increase income and generate more employment opportunities

Who Can Join?

Motorcycle entrepreneurs who meet these criteria are encouraged to apply:

  • Aged 18–50
  • Operating a registered motorcycle workshop (minimum 6 months)
  • RM360,000+ annual sales
  • Not blacklisted by MARA

MARA’s Commitment to Structured Growth

Datuk Wira Dr. Asyraf Wajdi, Chairman of MARA, highlighted the structural transformation behind this initiative:

“Previously, the public viewed MARA mainly as an education institution through MRSM or UiTM. Then, as a business financing body. But today, we are repositioning MARA as a structured economic enabler. Similar to a financial development institution.”

He continued:

“Through this programme, applicants undergo interviews, mandatory training, and mentorship. MARA now operates 270 TVET institutions nationwide, focusing on technical automotive skills. These graduates contribute to 30% of Malaysia’s skilled workforce. Yet, among the over 15,000 workshops in Malaysia, only 30% are Bumiputera-owned. That’s where PUMP MotoExpert plays a vital role in addressing the gap.”

With this strategic collaboration, Bateriku continues to play the role to empower growth among local entreprenuers and enhance our automotive industry step by step.
